Diplomate, American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery
Dr. Steven Holt was introduced to hair restoration surgery as a patient. Because his experience with Medical Hair Restoration was such a positive one, he decided to make hair transplantation his specialty. As a patient himself, he understands individuals' concerns, fears and expectations.
Dr. Holt strongly believes that the best results come from highly specialized surgeons. "I was fortunate enough to be among a very few selected for an MHR fellowship training position in hair restoration surgery. This program is one of only a few recognized by the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery and leads to board certification as a hair transplantation specialist," said Dr. Holt. "Having the best possible training was important to me."
Dr. Holt places a heavy emphasis on patient comfort. "It takes enough courage for a patient to choose to have hair surgery and place something as important as their appearance in your hands. We all have a natural apprehension of surgery. As a doctor, I want to make sure my patients don't have to worry about discomfort. My background taught me the importance of pain prevention and management. Properly done, hair transplantation is a virtually painless procedure. However, that requires a surgeon who understands pain prevention and is an expert in anesthesia techniques. In my procedures, pain is simply not an option."
Dr. Holt strongly believes that the best results occur when the patient and the surgeon jointly form a game plan. "I listen carefully to what the patient expects and desires and advise them on what can be done within that framework. I clearly recommend to them what I believe will give them the best possible outcome, not only for the present time but for the future as well."
With his experience, Dr. Holt also recognizes the highly personal and sensitive issues involving hair loss in women. "For a woman, hair loss is especially difficult. A skilled hair surgeon must understand both the physical and emotional differences between men and women considering surgical hair restoration."
In his leisure time, Dr. Holt is an accomplished outdoorsman. He is a former top-ranked professional walleye fisherman and author of many best selling fishing publications. Outside of the MHR offices, he especially enjoys spending time with his young family.
